The Kling 4.0 API is a REST interface that lets developers generate AI videos programmatically using Kuaishou's Kling 4.0 model. It supports text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-image video (Soul Mode) through a single POST endpoint. VideoGenAPI handles authentication, billing, and provider infrastructure - you only need one API key to start building with the Kling 4.0 API.

Sign up free at VideoGenAPI.com and generate your API key from the dashboard. No Kuaishou account needed.

Send a request to the Kling 4.0 API

POST to https://videogenapi.com/api/v1/generate with your API key, model "kling-4", and a text prompt describing your video.

Poll for completion

Use the returned generation_id to poll GET /api/v1/status/{id} until the job completes. Video completion webhooks are not available yet.

Download your video

Once status is "completed", retrieve the video URL from the response and embed it in your app, website, or workflow.

About Kling 4.0

info Overview

Kling 4.0 is the new flagship video model from Kuaishou's Kling AI, the successor to Kling 3. It was announced on September 28, 2026, when the lighter Kling 4.0 Flash opened to Ultra subscribers, and became fully available on October 15, 2026 on kling.ai and through Kling's MCP server and CLI. The developer API is listed by Kling as coming soon, with no published API pricing yet, so Kling 4.0 is not callable on VideoGenAPI today. The jump from Kling 3 is about length and control. Kling 4.0 generates 3 to 30 seconds in one pass, with two-channel stereo audio and improved lip sync. Omni Reference accepts up to 15 inputs per task (up to 10 images, 5 videos totalling 30 seconds and 7 subjects, which can carry a voice), and Multi-Keyframe Control steers a clip with up to 10 keyframes. Prompts can run to 8,000 tokens, in-frame text renders in nine languages, and a built-in editor works on up to five clips. Kling 4.0 Flash is the faster tier: 3 to 20 seconds at 720p. As soon as Kling opens the API we will add Kling 4.0 behind the same endpoint and key; until then, Kling 3 (/kling-3-api) is included in every VideoGenAPI plan.

Limits

Kling 4.0 API limitations

Plan duration and resolution caps apply even when the model supports higher output. See pricing.
Jobs are asynchronous: poll GET /api/v1/status/{id}. Video completion webhooks are not available yet.
Rate limits and fair-use throttling are documented on /docs/rate-limits.
Prompts and images that violate the content guidelines are rejected.

Not yet. Kling 4.0 is live on kling.ai and through Kling's MCP and CLI, but Kling lists API access for developers as coming soon. We will add it behind the same endpoint and API key as soon as it opens. Calls to "kling-4" currently return a "model_coming_soon" error.
